Life Transitions

Changes, even the good ones, come with struggle and grief.

Caring for you, just as you are.

Leaving behind life as you knew it can cause you to feel out of control, like its too much to deal with. Most people who start Counseling for Life Transitions feel like they're in free-fall without support to count on. You might want to escape from the daily routine, but found there's no pause button on your multifaceted roles, or the change is so BIG that "stress management" sounds like a f*cking joke. Despite all your doubts, you deserve support and hope.

Helping Women and Nonbinary Adults follow their inner compass while navigating massive change

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • You feel you are struggling to keep up.

  • Your expect to face doubts about whether your struggle is valid.

  • You're deeply concerned about people whom you feel responsible to.

  • While you've made massive adjustments; there seems to be little accommodation for you.

If these sound true for you, I want you to know that even though you may feel alone, know that many people in your circumstances need support considering the many challenges you are facing. Self-care is not an indulgence or a selfish act. The old cliché, "You can't pour from an empty cup," turns out is simply unquestionably true. Being there for others requires taking care of you.

Sometimes we are the authors of life transitions. We've made a choice to complete a degree, grow our family, start a business. Other times life hands us changes. Betrayals happen, as do traumas, diagnoses and global pandemics. Whether this was a choice or an absolute; it's human to struggle with change.

Real change, enduring change happens one step at a time.

How Counseling for Life Transitions Works

Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I support clients in creating space for their experience, putting together what's most important, and making space for growth and grief. We will call on your inner wisdom (yes, you do got that) to give our work a sense of direction. Much of our work together is focused on building self-compassion. Therapy moves at your own pace. Counseling for Life Transitions consists of 50 or 75-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns. In addition to listening, I will ask questions and provide guidance based on my experience, I play an active role. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

When we move (or are moved) into what's next, loss comes with that. Research shows that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can alleviate your struggle with thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. ACT gives you new tools in your rucksack as you travel through and with your grief.
